Dentists Report Taking on Additional Tasks Amid Staffing Shortages
New data from the ADA shows U.S. dentists are taking on additional tasks amidst staffing shortages.
More than one-third of dentists surveyed said that workload distribution has changed since the pandemic, with them taking on more duties usually performed by hygienists, assistants and other members of the dental team.
More than half of dentists agreed they remain concerned about staffing shortages. ADA reports, “Poll respondents also said that more team members are being cross-trained and maximizing their qualifications to cope with staffing shortages.”
