Health Minister Frustrated with Oral Health Care Providers

The Toronto Star recently reported that Federal Health Minister Mark Holland is disappointed with dental groups for not fully supporting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and he doesn’t “even know what their issues are anymore.”

During an interview, Holland said that every issue dental professionals had with the plan have already been worked through so he doesn’t know how to solve any more of their concerns.

As of Thursday, more than 10,500 oral health providers had signed up for the program, leaving around 19,500 that have not signed up. While around 120,000 people have undergone services through the program so far and two million are registered, with more than a million set to become eligible soon.

The Canadian Dental Association acknowledges the work Health Canada has done but still believes many of their concerns do not have solutions yet.
