Oral Surgeon Pleads Guilty to Letting Prison Guard Extract Tooth From Inmate
Oral surgeon Dr. Louis Bourget changes his plea to guilty for an assault charge regarding allowing a prison guard to do dental work on an inmate from a Newfoundland jail.
In October 2020, an inmate was taken to Bourget’s practice for a tooth extraction where he allowed one of the prison guards accompanying the patient to extract the tooth. The other guard recorded it on his phone and the video was posted to social media.
CBC reported that “Appearing by telephone, Dr. Louis Bourget entered a guilty plea in Gander Supreme Court on Monday morning, the same day he was scheduled to go to trial on the charge.”
Sentencing will take place in Gander on February 2.
